God was born on a sleigh is a carol to the words of Bohdan-Ihor Antonych. All of Antonych's poetry is imbued with religiosity, which manifests itself through the imitation of prayer texts and the singing of biblical psalms. The carol is filled with images from the folk songs and carols of the Hutsuls, Lemkos and Boiks, in which Christmas events are transferred from the Holy Land to the region of the Carpathian Mountains, and the birth of Jesus Christ does not take place in Bethlehem, but in a poor neighborhood or "on a sleigh in the Lemki town of Dukli." Lemkas in rattans [palms] came
And they brought the moon round.
God was born on a sleigh,

And the round moon was brought round.
